Help others to help yourself

The unselfish act of showing concern for other people not because you feel obliged out of duty, loyalty or religious reasons is called altruism. The manifestation of altruism, compassion, empathy and a desire to take care of others is associated with greater well-being, health, and longer lives.

What are the benefits of living an altruistic life and learning HOW TO BE GRATEFUL?

  • Several features may be responsible. After helping someone the positive feelings one often acquires is due to the release of chemicals such as endorphins and possibly endocannabinoids as well. These are the same breezy chemicals released during workout that our body rewards us while taking care of ourselves and the same applies when we take care of others.

  • If you don’t know HOW TO HELP OTHERS , try asking them. Helping others creates a sense of association. It helps us to get more involved in our community, make new friends, companion and several face-to-face activities such as volunteering at a food bank can also help reduce loneliness and isolation.

  • Regulating each other emotions and learning HOW TO PRACTICE GRATITUDE : Our day-to-day lives offer a ton of opportunities for managing our own emotions. Whenever we are happy, sad or anxious we always somehowmanage to find ways to control ourself in order to meet the demands of our environment. At times, however, when the weight of our emotions becomes unbearable, we seek for support. Social regulation of emotion is a key component of our relationship. Whenever we help a friend to overcome his emotional turmoil or offer comfort to our partner, we often engage in social regulation of emotion.

So, next time you find yourself helping someone managing their emotions, consider how your efforts may be furnishing you with an opportunity to practice for upcoming situations at a distance, improving your emotional well being.
